I love Kohl's but their new credit card holders, Capital One, are very unprofessional and will ask for very personal bank information. I made a payment on the 1st that wasn't due until the 15th as I do every month because I'm retired with a fixed income. The minimum payment was $29 so I paid that until later when we were gonna pay off the card. I get an email stating that my account has been suspended. I also get it on their app saying that I need to resolve the issue. There has been no report of fraud or questionable charges on my account. They sent me to the fraud department to verify my bank account that I have paid them from since switching over to Capital One from their inhouse financing: all because I made a payment to the card. Upon calling the bank they told me that my suspension was due to: too many payments, too large of a payment, my authorized user was the one who made the purchase and the bank account wasn't in their name, they needed to make sure that I had enough monies in the account to pay the amount of $29, ect. I'm pretty sure there were more reasons, but I am having a hard time processing all these outrageous reasons to remember the other ludicrous reasons. They also asked me for a picture ID (I'm assuming a drivers license since the representative was not from America), my full SSN, and a complete unredacted bank statement from all the banks listed as a payment method. I was on the phone for over 5 hours with them on various different occasions to try to resolve the issue. I finally spoke to the "manager" after the last representative was very condescending in his tone to me. This individual finally told me that I was "randomly selected to get their bank reconfirmed." I am not sure I believe this story since they have already demonstrated that they lie and say a plethora of other reasons. She at least got me on the phone with one bank that actually verified the account with some issues from that bank that has been dealt with, but could not with my other bank who didn't bye into their questionable behavior and wanted to speak with me before they would give them any affirmation. Which lead us to the only other form that Capital one will use to confirm that I actually owned the account and that's a full unredacted bank statement with all my income and payments visible to them. I never once missed a payment, paid late, or even reported anything to fraud so I am not sure why the fraud department would be calling to reverify a payment account that has been used several times to make payments on this card. I now cannot use a card for this store that has all my rewards points associated with it and where you get Kohl's cash from. I'm very disenchanted with this whole process and can never shop at Kohl's because their credit card company is so unscrupulous as to want all my personal information that can be used to commit fraud from the very department that is supposed to protect a client from having fraud. The payments have been posted from my accounts as well, so my banks have honored all of my authorized payments which also attest to the fact that by virtue of payment, they are indeed my accounts. For the fraud department to want to verify my account makes it doubly suspicious.

I have been with Capital One for over 25 years and they used to be fantastic!! customer service is now horrible!! I hate it that I can not understand what the reps are saying!! Come on capital One, you can do better than outsourcing to 3rd world countries for customer service reps!!!

Don't ever get a prepaid card with these people because they will still charge you and it's not even their money. You prepay in advance so why should I get charged on a prepaid like where there is prepaid meaning gets my money I'm putting on the card and thing is is like they come back and because I didn't add enough money to the card and I'm going to get hit with fees and hit with it's going to go on my credit report which is completely stupid. I can't stand scummy people and that's exactly what this world is is scummy it'd be different if it was an actual credit card and I missed the payment or something like that. But it was my money I was putting on there meaning prepaid and you're going to charge me and act like I'm not making a payment on a prepaid when it was my money and it was like a good day of the payment. They didn't take it off and then you know I was like screw it. I'm not going to pay on something that's my money. Avoid any prepaid credit cards. You might as well just keep your money and just save it and eventually you'll get a good real credit card

Capital One is terrible. I used their card for five years, never had a late payment. In mid-2025, they canceled my card without notifying me and took away all the reward points I had earned. When I called, they told me the system flagged my card for some reason but didn't tell me why. They refused to reinstate the reward points I earned. I will never do business with them again.

I’d rate this 0 if I could. Capital One locked my card because I used the in-app Capital One Travel function. Then 2 people thought they unlocked my card because they couldnt read someone’s notes. And I was additionally told I have to wait until the next day to fix my issue twice. So now I will have been without online access to ANY of my accounts for 48 hours because using their in-app service to buy a ticket for myself triggered fraud. Oh and it took a total of 3 hours on the phone to even find out the root cause (3 people cant follow notes).

The support from Veloursblanc was outstanding! As anticipated, they were extremely helpful in resolving my £138,500 frozen fund issue.

We’ve always paid our charges as soon as they were made before the statements. We needed to pay off a significant bill and asked the best way to do this since we have a credit limit and this is much more. We were advised to transfer almost the total amount and have a credit balance and then make several transactions over a few days against it to avoid waiting. We now are being told that even though they are already in possession of thousands of dollars of our money they have a policy of holding these funds for at least 10 days before we can access them even though the money is cleared both our bank and their depositing it. We tried to escalate the matter and were told that the supervisors we spoke to are as good as it gets. Anyone in a position of higher authority doesn’t deal with phone calls or customers and are simply administrative. Everyone we’ve delt with has been apologetic but hold the party line that their hands are tied and there is nothing they can do. They refuse to send us anything in writing which states this policy which was never explained to us until after they were in receipt of our money. So now Capital One Venture is holding all of our funds and refusing to distribute it and have put a hold on our account where they also will not pay any auto payments we have tied to this card until after October 8th.

Billing disputes and the customer service are not very active to respond and when they do , they don't provide solution. Imagine all these for just 3-4% interest. Good thing I get better returns with "For𝔱𝔲𝔫𝔢 ℭ𝔥𝔞𝔪pion' rather than just letting my funds sit in a bank

I had an issue with a bank check through Capital One. Customer Service was horrible. Language barrier, then if they don't know an answer, they apparently just make stuff up. I've learned to ask for a Manager or Supervisor. They mostly speak English as their first language and are a little more experienced. Now that I have some money to invest, I will not invest in any CD's because of the poor experience I've had with both customer service and the cashier's check debacle. Very frustrating and there are many other banking choices out there. Consumer beware.

Completely dysfunctional company. CEO is Richard Fairbank, which is clearly a made up name, oxymoron or somebody who might have once upon a time had good intentions. What they offer is cash back, no FOREX fees and car rental insurance, perfect for aircrew and business people. Now the bad news. In aviation, this company is a perfect example of what is called "failure mode" (used also in engineering), namely why things break, risk and how to make things safe and reliable (Boeing used to be like that, but wrecked by consultants and a non-pilot/engineer CEO only chasing pay packet with no care as to medium to long term safety). Capital One: same deal as other people here, these clowns deciding whether my phone number is "valid" based on their mysterious bogus third party data that fails to take into account pre-paid, work phones, shared family phones, and a million other reasons (like a huge number of virtual carriers and resellers). As a result their system shatters like glass thousands of times a day. Naturally there is no human override or listening, after all they know everything and can never learn anything. I've had the same number 20 years. It was even in the white pages. Their CEO and management are totally in the dark or just don't care about this constant irritation and how it makes customer hate them and bad mouth them. Reddit, TikTok all say the same bad things. Maybe CEO is too busy playing golf and arrogant as surrounded by yes-men. I can't wait for BRICS cryptocurrency to put them and the other crappy US banks out of business. Well deserved fate and sooner than they think. Use them as a payment card only for convenience and cashback, and pay it off in full, but NEVER trust them with savings or checking or anything else where they can lock you out at random. NEVER rely just on their card, it's roll the dice if it works, especially for aircrew. Backup is always a good thing, and especially with this fragile bag of bolts and failures everywhere. Or use then as a case study in class of how AI has completely lined their (and other companies) walls with bad data and stupidly and their having blind trust in the same flawed/incomplete garbage, the equivalent of asbestos they willingly pay money for to trash their reputation by enraged customers who make a point of warning the public of this menace. If any intelligent life at Capital One reads this, get rid of your broken "verification" someone conned you into buying. All it does is tell you the data you get is bad and fails in real life with real customers. Newsflash: Your customers know their lives better than you do. You have been sold a bad product and are unwilling to accept the bad news. I've told THOUSANDS of pilots on aircrew boards about how bad they are. Writing to their management just gets ignored, again illustrating total leadership failure in the Board room like Boeing with tragic consequences nobody is held accountable for.

I'm not quite sure why I tolerate the abuse Capital One provides to their customers. I've had nothing but complaints and each time I had to threaten them with legal threats. I had one of the most frustrating experiences with Capital One regarding their 2-step verification process. After switching phone carriers and updating my account with my new number, the system refused to recognize it and locked me out of transferring my rewards. Every attempt to verify failed with the message: “the phone number provided cannot be verified.” I called customer service on August 19 and spoke with a rep who tried to force an update, but nothing worked. For over a month I had no access, with no clear timeline of when this would be fixed. The issue eventually resolved itself after about a month—but only because time passed, not because Capital One provided any meaningful support or communication. Their written response (included in a CFPB complaint) was equally disappointing. They essentially said the system was “working as intended” and implied the issue was on me because my number was “too new” or “untrusted.” No proactive solution, no workaround, and no transparency about when the system would update. Instead of taking ownership, they hid behind vague security explanations. Yes, the problem resolved eventually. But the complete lack of communication and accountability was the real problem. Customers deserve clear updates and timelines—not a month of being left in the dark.

Capitol One does not care one bit about its customers. I filed a dispute. They declined it. They said they would reopen it if I sent evidence. I spent 2 hours compiling 9 pages of evidence. I uploaded it. I followed the exact instructions and included everything they asked for. They declined it again. I called and they actually said I should call the company that did not provide the services and try to work with them. The entire problem was that the company never responded. Capitol One's excuse is that I "used" the product. It was a piece of software. You CANNOT KNOW IF IT WORKS UNLESS YOU USE IT. I tried it for 2 weeks while I tried to get help from the merchant for the bug I experienced. They never replied. Capitol One has policies that do not take into account the type of product you bought. NEVER BUY SOFTWARE WITH A CAPITOL ONE CREDIT CARD. Capitol One will scam you.

Don’t bother even if you have hard evidence because they will ALWAYS side with the merchant. I used to investigate billing disputes and find their behavior disgusting.
