Dealing with Cheltenham Borough Council (CBC) regarding our shared ownership property has been a 10-month-long exercise in futility, stress, and professional negligence. What should have been a standard process—moving from shared ownership to freehold and then selling—was met with a staggering lack of interest and a complete wall of bureaucracy. We weren’t just "delayed"; we were ignored. The council only bothered to take action once we escalated the situation to official complaints, requiring the direct involvement of both local councillors and our MP’s office just to remove basic administrative barriers. The lowest point was their legal department’s performance. They eventually admitted to negligence for failing to respond to our "Right of First Refusal" in a timely manner. This wasn’t a minor oversight; their total lack of engagement placed our entire housing chain at risk of collapse. We spent months chasing people who clearly didn't care that our finances and lives were on the line. A warning to anyone considering a Shared Ownership scheme through this council: You will be treated as a low priority. Your emails will go unanswered unless you have an MP involved. They are not partners in housing; they are an incompetent barrier to it."
"Cheltenham Borough Council should be investigated by the Police for obtaining money from Tax payers under false pretences. If I was to drop litter on the ground I would receive a fine, yet when Ubico do the recycling rounds the roads resembles the day after the Glastonbury Music Festival. The overall service is terrible, some one needs to sort this Council out."
