"I turned in my lease early to move into another vehicle because I had another child and could no longer fit in my blazer. I paid the balance due rather than rolling over the balance into my new vehicle. GM Financial then 6 days later charged me another $720.34 and has refused to return the overpaid funds now 27 days later. They told me because the vehicle was grounded that my account is in hold until they process all the paperwork, pickup the vehicle from the dealership, process the vehicle for auction and sell the vehicle at auction before they decide if I owe any more money. They are holding onto my funds despite their still being a $0 balance just incase they decide to charge me. I formally complained to customer service and a manager and expressed how wrong it is for them to hold onto my funds for this long. I asked for a refund and said they can debit the money from my account if and when they decide I owe anything and she told me, they can hold the funds for up to 60 days. I told the manager that I was very upset with their refusal to refund me given the circumstances and she indicated that she was not "refusing" she was simply expressing that I would have to wait up to 60 days. This company has taken advantage of me and I am heavily considering switching to a different company as my 6 other GM vehicle leases come to an end. Your long term loyalty does not matter so I highly recommend you choose a company that cares more about their customers than $720 of overpaid money..."

"They are the worst company, and their customer service is even worse. I returned my car after three years; they claimed there were three tiny spots—invisible to the naked eye—and sent me a bill for $1,026. I have a photo of the car from before I returned it, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I advise anyone looking for a car to stay away from this company and avoid doing business with them."
"Trying to close out my mother's auto loan after she passed away has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever had. Every other financial institution we've dealt with during the estate process has been compassionate, responsive, and easy to work with. GM Financial has been the exact opposite. I've received different answers every time I've called, representatives have been argumentative when I've asked reasonable clarifying questions, and I still don't have a clear answer on when they'll pick up the vehicle securing the loan. Settling a loved one's estate is difficult enough without having to fight for basic information. Based on my experience, I would not choose GM Financial. There are too many other financial institutions that provide far better customer service."

"Absolutely horrendous Company and Customer Service. They double charged me my car payment, and when I called to let them know they basically told me that sucks and to wait for it to post before they can do anything about it. They realize people have other bills right?? Stay away from GM Financial."

"Mary ID# 023991-HORRIBLE service!! This lender is a joke! Employees need MORE training."
"Horrible company stay away from them. If you're late even by a little they'll continuously call and email several times a day to harass you. Customer service is also horrible. They take forever to connect with you and don't give you an answer or help out"
"I would like to take a moment to recognize Elizabeth, the Consigliere at GM Financial, where my 2022 Cadillac XT5 is currently leased through. When I first leased my vehicle, I never missed a payment and always paid my note on time. However, when COVID hit, life became very difficult financially. I reached out to GM Financial for assistance, and I was grateful to receive the three payment deferral options that were offered at the time. Unfortunately, as time went on, both my husband and I received cancer diagnoses, and our financial situation became even more challenging. I fell behind on many of my bills and contacted my creditors to try to make arrangements. Sadly, my experience with several representatives at GM Financial left me feeling unheard and unsupported. My requests for help seemed to fall on deaf ears, so eventually I stopped calling and simply paid what I could afford. Fast forward to 2026, and I am still struggling to catch up. A representative recently contacted me regarding a missed payment, which came as a shock because I had made a double payment in January 2025. Once again, the representative showed little concern for my situation. However, before ending the call, he transferred me to the Consigliere department — and I truly believe God allowed that transfer to happen. That is when I spoke with Elizabeth. Elizabeth treated me with kindness, patience, professionalism, and compassion from the very beginning. After over two years of struggling with my account, Elizabeth was the first person who truly listened and offered real solutions. She helped address late fees and even assisted with changing my due date to better fit my circumstances. At a time when I was honestly ready to end my relationship with GM Financial, Elizabeth restored my faith in customer service. She represented the GM brand with excellence, empathy, and genuine care for a customer going through hardship. GM Financial, you truly need more people like Elizabeth representing your company."

"THE WORST customer service ever. I have come across one representative that did not speak to my husband or I in a condescending tone. They could not care at all about financial hardships. If you’re approved through GM go to anywhere else but there!!!"

"This Company customer service is absolutely worthless and incompetent."

"Sucks and haven’t even sent title to my car it’s been 3 months tried to call them 15 times and just a robot and yes they were open"

"I did a lease assumption to take over lease of a 2024 Chevy Equinox EV. GM Financial essentially told me I cannot drive the vehicle for 2 months after approving the transfer. First, they don't have case-assigned representative. One rep gave me timeline that looked reasonable but each step took twice as long as I was told. Credit approval was told to be done in 7 days but it took over 2 weeks. Then Application approval after $625 fee payment was told to be done in 3-5 business days, but it took over a week & that too after I got really upset over the phone with them. Title was going to take 30-60 days& the Welcome package is suppose to have documents that will help me get car registration done. But now, they are saying both Title & Registration will take 30-60 days & I cannot drive the car during this time. I was not told this when I explicitly asked them about getting the car registered because no one in their right mind will ever sign the Lease Assumption document if they cannot drive the car for 2 months AFTER application approval (which takes over 3 weeks in the first place). GM Financial lied to me in the beginning of the process & it is a way to Trap Customers with their unethical means of business."
"Traded my 2024 Chevy in on a 2026 and lost my safe driving discount because it follows the vehicle not the driver. So watch getting a different vehicle you will loose your discounts and have to pay them more on your premium."

"I would give then 0 stars!!! Horrendous customer service...they do not reply. O interest rate is a absolute lie. Can not get a title from them. They sent it to the wrong state!!!"

"I'm on my third month with GM Financial. Paid my April car payment and they took it out twice, which now put bank account in the negative for over $400!!! Called to speak with customer service, and they would do anything about it."

"I paid off my vehicle a year ago and still have not received the title. GM financial states I owe additional fees but cannot provide an itemized statements of the fees. I will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General."

"I spoke to someone about a totalled car and tried to set up arrangements to pay the balance they have 0 comparison for someone who is only trying to pay a debt I highly recommend finding another loan company."
"GM Financial could not care any less about their customers. I was going through financial hardship and requested they remove the late payment from my credit report (after I paid it). They wouldn't even consider my request. They truly do not care about their customers and it's disgusting. I will never get another one of their vehicles."

"I am attempting to purchase a vehicle through GM financial. My bank is automatically sent them a check out and they have cashed the checks. They changed their address and through the bank and their representatives I spoke with them about my attempts to pay, I was treated multiple times like I was fabricating the story, and now they are ruining my credit rating all because they will not cash checks they're being sent to them after cashing checks no problem before. This is really upsetting as I'm getting absolutely nowhere with customer service. They're calling multiple times a day and yet they will not cash the checks that are being sent to them almost like they are attempting to intentionally repossess the car."

"I had paid off my vehicle in July but cannot track ever receiving my title from GM Financial. Three calls and several visits to their website yielded no satisfaction. Customer servicers must hate their job, they were disinterested and were difficult to understand/hear. I now have to file a lien release and get a duplicate title, so much for a professional process."
