"Do Not Use Hartford 529 On 2/10, I submitted a simple beneficiary update to add my wife. The first representative sent the wrong form. The second rep couldn’t explain how to complete it — despite this being a very common request. On 2/11, I received written confirmation that the change was completed. When I later called to request a distribution, I was told the paperwork was “not in good order” — even though their own representative had completed it. I provided whatever additional information they requested. Five days later, nothing. I called again — was told it would be expedited. Another five days passed — still not done. I’ve now spent 75 minutes on hold trying to reach someone who can resolve a basic issue. This level of incompetence and lack of internal communication is unacceptable. Never again."
"I had an SEP IRA account with Hartford Funds for over a decade and made very little money. Now I’m rolling my account over to Discover Bank IRA (way better!!) & they won’t give me my money… Discover has FedEx them the info twice and we have not heard from them. When we three way called customer service the guy acted like a know it all and gave us red tape. DO NOT give your hard earned money to this horrible institution. I wish I moved my money from them sooner. Who knows if they will even give me my 10k they have of mine… Very unorganized and only care about taking money from you. Be warned they are shady. I’ll update you when or if they give me my money…"
"The company has made money off our account for 20 years and they won't mail out our funds. They ruined our son's wedding,they ruined his chance to by a good deal on a car. They sit on our money so they can make interest off us while we suffer. We set up for them to mail our check overnight (after 4 weeks and no check) and they made up another lame excuse that their overnight mailing would take 4 days to mail from their office. Smh. Its This company ranks up with Bank of America in corruption. We are filing a complaint with the Attorrney General,BBB and waiting to hear back from a lawyer that my spouse works with. This is unacceptable. If you are with Hartford funds, PLEASE heed my warning and move to a smaller company because these bigger companies are all corrupt!"
