Website constantly freezes and times out, Invest Direct is embarrassingly bad considering it's a paid service, it hasn't been updated in 25 years. I hate using their system.

We had to chase the mortgage advisor several times to progress our application. We were left feeling quite stupid during our call to go over application due to challenging questioning by the mortgage advisor. The reasoning for the lending decision has not been explained. Will consider moving our loyal (nearly 40 years) and considerable business (current account, mortgage, personal loan, credit card, child saver accounts) elsewhere based on this most unsatisfactory interaction with HSBC.

I recently faced a fraudulent transaction on my HSBC account involving a significant amount, which was very stressful. I was assisted by Mica, who showed incredible patience and professionalism. She explained everything clearly, reassured me about the process, and made what felt overwhelming seem smooth and manageable. I was initially afraid to insist on the irregularity of the fraud, but Mica understood me perfectly and guided me through with such empathy. What a relief to feel truly listened to and supported. So thank you, Mica, for turning a difficult situation into a reassuring experience. E.B.T

Lazy staff at Newport, Shropshire branch. I had to take a Bangladeshi employee as he had changed his phone and his new number wasn’t accepted on his hsbc banking app. He finished work early so he could attend a branch. We were in the branch at the desk and the girl went off to talk to someone and came back and said they didn’t have time. I was not at all impressed with this lazy attitude as it was not closing time. The manager woman came out and asked me to leave, when I didn’t she said she would call the police. She continued to play a tape recording about courtesy to staff, how about doing you jobs properly and customer satisfaction. She manager told me to come back or go to Telford branch. I took the lad to Telford, the girl took his card, input the 11 digit phone number and finished in less than 2 minutes. What happened to service and delivery to the customer, incompetent staff, very poor customer service.

I have a degree of sight loss. I stopped using the HSBC online banking website because I could not input numbers/ passwords etc fast enough and was timed out again and again. Since then I have used the mobile app. HSBC now tell me my OS is not sufficient for their app upgrade so very shortly I will lose access to the app unless I am prepared to spend hundreds of pounds on a new smartphone. I have spent many hours today trying to activate the secure key I ordered instead which would mean returning to the unusable website and failed utterly finally reducing me to floods of tears. Calling customer services left me angry and confused. I am now working out whether I can afford a smartphone. I have reported this whole incident to RNIB as yet another example of the crass ignorance of HSBC towards people with disability. After 46 years with this bank I am more than disgusted. Beware of dealing with this bank unless you are in perfect health. It is also only a few weeks since I complained to customer services that they had removed data from my account without my permission. I was promised contact by phone to discuss the matter but have received no call. Currently looking for a new bank, maybe there's one out there with some respect for customers especially those who already have enough struggles in life.

I came into HSBC Enfield Town to reset my mobile banking on Saturday. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Hayri helped me efficently and made the proccess very quick she also helped me review my accounts making sure I was getting the best return on my savings

This review is for the Huddersfield branch. Really nice & clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful . A big nod to Clare who is super official, always helpful and friendly and a pleasure to see on our visits.

Made an address change today (HSBc), they had it incorrectly listed from a previous loan we held with them (their error)and tried to change my payment limit as well. Advised that call back will be required to confirm transfer limit increase. Got a call back later that day advising that they can't complete the transfer limit increase because of the address change (as their system can't process the two changes at once), and that the address change will take two weeks! Ridiculous.

Very bad bank The app is pathetic and the customer service takes ages. They are awake only to harass you with request of documentation when they get fine by the regulator. It’s pathetic.

I had an appointment today with Adrian Matthews to register my Power of Attorney on my Father's account. Adrian is a credit to the company. His 30 years of experience certainly shows. He is warm, human and could not have been more helpful. Great work, thank you Adrian!!

On Wednesday 10th September, I had requested an urgent appointment at my HSBC Wimbledon branch for an open banking query. I was lucky enough to get offered next day appointment, which was today Thursday 11th September. Thanks to Mr Rajendram RAGAVAN for providing a swift and pragmatic financial advice in resolving my money issue today. As a customer, I have been relying on such exemplary money management and expertise offered by Mr Ragavan which helped my financial experience at my HSBC branch grows successfully in trust and confidence.

HSBC Global Investment Centre is terrible. Trying to switch to lloyds. HSBC blocked the transfer 2 times and then requested it was sent by post. This is very poor and we will never have any dealing with HSBC ever again.

On September 07, 2025, my HSBC online account was hacked and AED 3,000 was stolen through several unauthorized transactions. The money was transferred to an account under the name Gurwinder Singh Amrik Singh at Al Maryah Community Bank. What shocked me the most is that I did not receive any OTP or security verification codes during these transactions. This shows that HSBC’s online banking security is extremely weak and unreliable. I immediately reported the issue, but the customer service team has been unhelpful and has provided no real solution. It is unacceptable that such a global bank cannot protect its customers’ money or take proper responsibility. HSBC has been a huge disappointment, and I strongly advise others to avoid this bank if they value their financial security.

I recently visited HSBC branch in Edgware, the only bank that is still open in the high street. I was served by one the bank staff Kirti. She was extremely helpful and kind helping me to pay in a cheque. During that short period, there was another customer too was requesting for a staff for help to make a payment. Most of the High Street banks are now closed, although the Edgware branch is a long way to travel but I am still delighted to find HSBC bank in the high street where I can get help from the bank staff for all my banking issues.

I attended HSBC Merthyr Tydfil to discuss an account and I can honestly say I had a wonderful experience spoke with a lovely lady named Lauren and she made everything so easy, made me feel so relaxed had a nice conversation about general things whilst processes were happening. Horrific experience with HSBC – no access to funds, no support I am a single parent with two children and my experience with HSBC has been nothing short of devastating. Without any notice, HSBC suspended and moved to close my only bank account, holding all of my funds. I was left with no access to my money to cover basic living expenses for myself and my children. Over the past several weeks, I have made repeated calls and visited the bank on multiple occasions. Each time, I was given conflicting and contradictory information. On two occasions I was told my account was closing on a specific date; later I was told it was “under review” with no timescale given. During one call, HSBC’s customer service shockingly suggested that I should rely on a food bank to feed my children while they held my money. That is how little regard they had for the immediate hardship they were causing. Despite escalating, no one at HSBC seems to take responsibility. I have been pushed from one department to another, with nobody able to provide a clear explanation or a resolution. Their handling of this matter has caused extreme distress, disrupted my self-employed work, and left me and my family in a very vulnerable situation. HSBC have shown no care for treating customers fairly, no urgency in addressing financial hardship, and no consistency in their communication. For a bank of this size and reputation, their behaviour has been appalling. It's been one month and I still don't have access to my account.
