Long & McQuade is Canada`s biggest music store offering a huge selection of musical instruments and music lessons across Canada. Guitars & Drums!
"I went to L&M on Saturday July 18th in the morning an hour after opening. This outlet was on Huntclub in Ottawa. I had recently sold one of my electric guitars and was hoping to replace it. I looked through the entire selection and was only interested in one. Meanwhile there were 5-6 employees around the cash area chatting and laughing. I was in the there at least 30 minutes making frequent eye contact with the group and not a single person paid attention or offered to assist me in my selection or try out. I left. Big disappointment and I will purchase elsewhere….."
"Just bought a new Yamaha LL 16 Acoustic at the Gravenhurst location- staff and manager John were excellent- they provided me with a good trade in value for my used gear and walked me through the acoustic offerings- there is a nice trial room for playing in house which was helpful- I will be back as a regular since my old music store closed down."

"I have shopped at Long and McQuade numerous times on Terminal Avenue in Vancouver over the course of 6 years since 2000, and before that at their old Grandville Street location in 2009, and prior to that I was a Long and McQuade customer in Calgary dating back to 1998, but it has always been the same thing with the people at Long and McQuade on Terminal Avenue Vancouver, having the travel back and forth multiple times just to complete one purchase, and them twice trying to pass of used, second hand, electric guitars as new. ******OLD REVIEW DATED Jul 29, 2021******** I bought over $5000 in guitar equipment from this location, and they told me the two $2100 Fender guitars were new. When I got them home I noticed that the pick guard on the Stratocaster was scuffed, and it turns out that it had been previously owned, even though they sold it as "new". I fell out of love with these guitars (American Professional II Stratocaster and Telecaster, roasted pine) pretty quickly and returned them within a matter of months without ever playing them. They say they have a satisfaction guarantee, and they turned around and sold this guitar equipment without losing very much money at all, and charged me with around a $750 restocking fee. Although on a limited budget, I was never happy with the hardware on these guitars, and have decided on buying Fender American Ultra models for my kids. Now all I feel is cheated and unsatisfied with loosing all this money on guitar equipment, some of which was second hand, that I never even played."

"I deal with tillsonburg Ontario store. The staff are fantastic. I just started guitar lessons from their teacher David Wilkins he's great. But like l said great knowable staff. Thanks again Henry,Dave,Hunter for all your help. So if you need any kind of musical instruments that's the place to be Thanks guy's FRANK JACKSON."

"These people at L&M Bloor, in all their shops (acoustic guitars, electric, and the pro shop) have just been so incredibly helpful and patient with me. They (Ezra, Dayna) always give me the space and time to make the right decisions. The luthier (Jane) is so kind and quick with dealing with the issue. I couldn't recommend them more."

"They are reputed and have good variety and all. But shipping is horrible. More than 3-4 weeks to move an item from Toronto to Vancouver?? There are sellers who transport from Japan to Vancouver in 3 days... The status is "still on the truck... " and "we don't know, can take few more weeks...""
"Truly horrible I’ve had to go back 4 times trying to get my Les Paul replica fixed"
"i took an old fender acoustic guitar in the store for appraisal. The luthier saw that it was an old fender and just said the old fenders were just cheap japanese. He did not even try to determine anything about the guitar. It is possible that he is right, but I have been playing this guitar for 50 years it is in excellent condition and sounds great."
"L+M is an execellent business and this can be seen in a number of ways. They take back products on 30 days. They let you play the valuable instruments. They bend over backwards in many other ways. We should all support this shop across canada or else we will be in a cesspool of online crap."
"I was promised trade in credit when I was at the store after giving explicit details to some things I have. LIES, LIES. Luke and management have wasted my time, I was told they take everything, super positive, I went through all my stuff. Spend lots of time waiting…. Now im going to spend 2 grand and all my business elsewhere. This is a joke,.. And I hate when drummers pretend to know lots… Luke Cooper has to stop pretending he knows a lot about drums and cymbals when he doesn’t seem to understand his own inventory. Find some new workers. He lost more than 10 grand I would have dropped in the next month at your location. Who am I? I run my own brand and I wouldn't tolerate workers doing this shit. I called him, and still…. He offered me nothing more than a— I’l get back to you. Now im forced to educated the community on long and M until you guys go out of business."
"My experience with Long & McQuade was frustrating from start to finish. Their customer service was disorganized, misleading, and frankly unacceptable for a company that presents itself as a leader in musical instruments. I was repeatedly told things were being handled when, in reality, nothing meaningful was happening. Information changed depending on who I spoke to, and explanations I was given turned out to be untrue or wildly inaccurate. Whether through incompetence or indifference, I was misled about what they were actually doing, which wasted my time and eroded any trust I had in the company. What makes this even more frustrating is how unnecessary the experience was. Ordering from Amazon.ca is faster, clearer, and far more transparent. With Amazon, you know exactly what’s happening, when your order is coming, and who is accountable. With Long & McQuade, I got vague answers, poor follow-through, and zero ownership of the problem. If customer service matters to you at all, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. In today’s retail environment, there is no excuse for this level of service—and plenty of better, easier alternatives."

"Employee told me not to be loud on the drums even though theyre gonna be loud, theyre drums.... I play metal music and I was obviously using the double pedal for blast beats and the worker told me that if I break the kit im gonna have to pay for it and started talking to me like I dont know what Im doing. He told me the lights downstairs are shaking when I play the drums and how the hell does that bother me? If it shakes the lights thats your problem because you put the drums upstairs. Maybe use common sense if the drums are "shaking the lights" and put them downstairs and put the keyboards upstairs. Buddy was giving me a death stare after every hit of a drum and was on the edge of kicking me out. How about you hire people that dont despise genres of music where you have to play fast and hard. I can tell hes into boy band music and im sorry I dont play no 😺 little boots and cats beat."

"I love going to long and McQuades the people are friendly but it definitely used to be a lot better. the variety in stores is not the best (I play bass ) I have been looking for an amp head to try out and every store i have been to only has 2 at most."
"I tried to buy a few used guitars on their gear hunter page and I would not recommend anyone to do so. In all the guitars there were overlooked issues and the guitars condition wasn’t accurately described in photos or in writing."

"I was in this store two or three weeks ago. I bought a microphone and received excellent service, which made me feel better. If you enjoy patient service, I recommend asking for Michael Di Monte. He's one of the best in my entire experience in Canada. If you read this message, remember to always do your job very well. You're one of the best. And as if that weren't enough, he showed me products at various price points. Don't forget, it's not just the store; customer service counts too."

"Having purchased many items, from basic accessories to major musical instruments, I can always count on Long & McQuade for great service, knowledgeable staff (who typically are pro working musicians) and always fair pricing. I've experienced fantastic assistance from the Halifax store’s GM, John Parker, as well as great service and guitar lessons for my son at their Bedford, NS location. I also shop online at smaller drum and music shops when needed, especially in Quebec, for some of the harder to find items I’ve needed on occasion, but Long & McQuade has had me covered for years with all but my most specialized purchases. Its great when you need something and don’t have to wait on a UPS delivery, shipping charges or unpredictable taxes and duty charges from Gernany, etc. Nothing beats being able to find most things same-day in my hometown (which historically, before L&M, was far from the case). I never hesitate to recommend Long and McQuade and their great staff members in Halifax Nova Scotia, when the opportunity arises."
"I don't like long and mcquade, I LOVE it! I go there for music lessons and it's AMAZING! I take singing there and I have made great progress. My teacher is Catlin and she is the best! There are also other musicians who teach! Violin, guitar, drums' e.t.c."

"This place is awesome ! customer service at it's best. I bought my first guitar at the belleville location and 3 others since , I purchased my daughters first ukulele there as well . I am glad I went to long and McQuade for my first guitar. Not only for the product but the service was stellar, These guys go the extra mile to help you get what you need . Even if they don't carry the product you are looking for. They truly care about the customer . I just purchased a hummingbird from the Kingston location and it was no different . Top notch service ! the young lad that helped me even installed my strings I had purchased from the belleville location for free . Even gave me a battery for my electronics and installed it too. 5 stars from me all day long 💯"

"Man I love this store, I have been in here a bunch of times in pursuit of fixing old instruments that seem to keep falling in my lap. In my complete lack of knowledge, I called the local Long and McQuade to ask for help in knowing what to do. They were so willing and gracious and were excited to help me on my ongoing quest to fix up all these instruments. Not only that, but one of there repair guys, (his name is Les, ask for him, he knows what he's doing) actually did some of the smaller repairs on some electrics I had, simply out of his own passion for his job (Thanks again man). I have continued to shop there because their is a real sense of community and comradery among them and they are always willing to help me out. Because of their help, I have fixed up these guitars and I am going in with a fresh batch soon to ask for more tips and tricks as well as buy any resources I may need. I have interacted with Julian, Joshua, Paul, Brandon and Les and every single one of them were knowledgeable, kind and always willing to help. Thanks fellas, see you soon."

"Long & McQuade I would like to take this opportunity to pass on a sincere thank you to your Store Manager Shawn Dakin (Calgary East), he helped me tremendously with a second hand guitar I purchased by giving it thorough check over, changed strings and setup. I found Shawn to be very professional👍 and extremely helpful. His experience and engaging nature is a benefit to the Long & McQuade organization as a whole. Thanks again Shawn, it was greatly appreciated; Brian Molsberry Brandon, Manitoba"
