They are great until you want to make a trade! I put in an order and they limit it to 95% of the cash balance in your account. So you can have thousands of dollars that are not invested. And customer service? Don't bother, you will sit on hold for hours but don't worry, they are sorry. I'm going back to Charles Schwab, they were wonderful

They are either completely incompetent or criminals. I think the latter is correct. I have tried three times to submit notarized documents to them. I called them in advance asking for instructions each time and followed them to the letter. Each time I submitted the documents I was told they were incorrect even though I followed their instructions. I am now handling this with a lawyer. Never, ever use Merrill Edge!
I received horrible service. Over a month ago i asked for my account to be transferred and i furnished all proof they needed and they kept refusing to transfer my account and it took forever to sell mutual funds which takes seconds to sell and then they did not transfer for weeks and required several calls. They then held back $75 so the account was not closed and they disabled my online access. They refused to transfer that last amount and send by email a closing statement. This firm is awful and I would never use them again. They act like the assets you have invested belong to them, not you. After saying they would send a closing statement to my B of A account they now say they will not they are mailing it and it will be 10 days until i receive it at an address I was going to change and not cannot change until i received the statement. They made a simple sale and transfer two day normal action into over a month long, more than a month. Horrible! I cannot say enough how horrible they were.
Account access was suspended without prior notice or detailed reasoning.
Horrible guidance from a Merrill advisor on a simple transfer, cost me $250 in lost interest, hours on the phone, and added stress to my life. Really disappointed in the way this institution is run. And I am a supposed platinum preferred customer. Hah!
The support ignored me like irrelevant customer, suing them at this point will be the best decision for denying my withdraw , it time to end it with them . using Gridstake gradually high my investment to the top. meaningful returns and no disturbance
unlike other competitors like etrade, it is clear this firm merrill edge does not invest in making a pleasant user interface AT ALL. Every time i go to their main login webpage, trying to use the saved password, it says you are locked out, reset your password.
Horrible experience!!!!! Prior to my mother's death, I went online and made sure she had me listed as her beneficiary. After her death the beneficiary magically disappeared. This was the only matter I then needed to have her will probated. After receiving the court document I emailed the documents to Merrill. They claimed they could not read the notary stamp. After much ado they accepted that. Moving on to the next step which was supposed to be with a financial advisor, more documents were required. The customer service (Jyoti)agent assured me I would receive a check in 7 to 10 business days. The next day the customer service agent calls me to say I need to speak to a financial advisor. She would never admit her lack of knowledge regarding what she told me the previous day. The financial advisor proceeded to inform me there were 3 accounts that had been invested, and I would need to agree over a recorded line that they could be liquidated. Each time I would say I only agree to the estimated amount on a recorded line. I do not trust this company at all!!! He says the check will take 2 days in the distribution department at which time it could be losing value. I should expect a check in 5 days after that.
To put it bluntly, this is a terrible website, and you will not be compensated, Atal. The primary issue has been the inability to withdraw. It was the best choice I ever made to give Good merit, a try They do pay.
I travelled overseas a week ago and was going to do some stock trading, but because my phone doesnt work here , they kept asking to send a confirmation code to my phone , I never once received a code, and kept trying several times, but NEVER got a code,but I had requested that all confirmation codes be sent to my email yet they kept telling me they'd be sending it to my phone.... which apparently does not work here in scandinavia but there is NOT a single place that gives you an emal contact for Merrill Edge. As a result this company locked my account and the only number to call is one that can ONLY be called to from within the United States, There is NO number to call from oveseas and there is NO email to contact them . I still have two weeks here in Europe and have not been able to BUY or SELL stocks and will be loosing money because I am with Merrill Edge, a company that DOES not have communication with its customers. Upon returning I will be requesting financial restitution for everything I have lost because of this.Shame on Merrill Edge for NOT communicating AT ALL . This HAS to be fixed NOW

My life was hacked - BoA did the absolute wrong thing and it allowed the hackers to open 3 (not 1, not 2 but 3) Merrill Edge accounts without my permission. They moved all my money from my checking and savings accounts into these ME accounts in 5 mins. I got lucky that I blocked before the hackers could remove the money but I had to spend a month, and finally get a reporter involved, before ME would move my funds fully back and close the accounts. No one follows up, no one has a clue what is going on, etc. I had to spend my time, 6 visits in the bank, finding a supv to finally help in some ways tho not all, etc before this happened. They essentially were stealing my money and saying "under review" but never giving me any info, asking qs, etc. Then I get 3 letters saying they reviewed my accounts and were closed when they looked - no acknowledgement that they were closed and never should have been opened in the first place, not one apology, just attitude as if I did something wrong v. being the victim/survivor. I would NEVER open an account with these people!
If you rely on timely tax documents, think twice before opening an account here. I still haven't received my 1099 form. I visited the branch, called the tax department and. no one had answers. They couldn't even say when it would be issued or sent. That level of disorganization shocked me, especially from a company owned by BOFA. You time matters. Your tax reporting matters. Don't waste either one here. That's why more people are moving to FifthHeaven. They handle all tax matters without the back and forth so you are never stuck when it's time to withdraw or report. With them you don't just invest, you stay in control.
They direct deposit my money into the wrong account. Called them along with my bank which is chase. Chase didn’t see anything pending and don’t have records of no transactions pending. Called Merrill back they kept saying they direct deposit ACH deposit. Horrible service if u ask me. I recommend now using them they are the worse. It even was supposed to be emergency funds. File on 5/13. A week already has passed still nothing. To whoever they directly deposited it too. You have been blessed hope u enjoy every cent.
Merrill Edge has delayed distribution of my deceased mother’s account for over a year. When there were document complications, they did not reach out to us, to make us aware of the complications. They have lost documents, claimed they did not receive other documents, and kicked documents back for any little corrective issue they can find. Their employees are clueless and give conflicting information. They put you on hold for 20 minutes and still don’t understand what is going on with the account, when they come back. They never follow up, in the timeframe stated for follow up. They have been using these funds for their own benefit, profiting from their bureaucratic failings, which suggests it is intentional. Once this issue is finally resolve, they will never see a cent from me, my family, or friends.
Closed out roth ira without permission. Took taxes out while having no income or gains....
One week for a check to clear!!! In that time the market went up. I told them I wanted to just close everything out, but they had to wait for the check to clear. Not sure why. I originally tried doing the transfer online but for some reason it was not going through, this was even after a consultant walked me through it. The Merril Edge sales person is at B of A once a week. It makes perfect sense that these two awful institutions would pair up. Bank of America is awful too. They have ZERO personal service.
Merrill Lynch is an awful company! Blocked my IRA for no reason whatsoever, no explanation or justification. Been with them and Bank of America for 15 years and this is how I’m treated. Stay away!!
I HATE Merrill Lynch Edge!!!! They tell you what you can and can't buy on the stock market. I want to buy anything related to Bitcoin. I can't even buy MicroStrategy without some warning and this company is in the SP500. I can't even buy a publicly traded ETF that buys companies that buy Bitcoin. This is the worst brokerage on the planet. The website is very outdated. Screw this platform. Just go with Robinhood. Merrill Lynch can kiss my ass. They won't let you buy Bitcoin ETFs but they will let you buy a triple leverage short ETF. This company sucks so bad. The best move I ever made was moving out of Merrill. Oh and by the way they closed an account without my permission.
