American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPR, and First-Aid Certification Courses: A Comprehensive Overview Safety Training Seminars is a nationally recognized leader in providing high-quality training in life-saving skills. Their certification courses in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and First-aid are designed to equip both healthcare professionals and lay responders with the tools they need to act quickly and effectively in emergency situations. Whether you're a medical provider, childcare worker, teacher, or concerned citizen, AHA training offers valuable education that can make the difference between life and death. Basic Life Support (BLS) The AHA’s BLS certification course is essential for healthcare professionals including nurses, doctors, EMTs, and dental workers. This course focuses on high-quality CPR, the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and team-based resuscitation scenarios. Participants learn how to recognize cardiac arrest, provide effective chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and use an AED promptly. BLS certification is often required for employment in hospitals and clinics and is a foundational course for more advanced training. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) ACLS builds on the basic skills taught in BLS and is intended for advanced healthcare providers such as physicians, paramedics, and critical care nurses. The course emphasizes the management of cardiac arrest, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes. ACLS training includes advanced airway management, ECG interpretation, pharmacology, and effective communication within a code team. AHA ACLS courses require prior knowledge of BLS and often include pre-course self-assessments to ensure participants are prepared. Certification is valid for two years and is vital for those working in emergency departments and intensive care units. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) The PALS course is designed for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies involving infants and children. It is particularly important for pediatricians, emergency personnel, and nurses who work in pediatric or neonatal care units. The training covers pediatric assessment, effective respiratory support, shock management, and cardiac arrest in children. Like ACLS, the course involves hands-on practice, team simulations, and cognitive testing. PALS certification helps ensure that medical personnel are prepared to handle life-threatening pediatric emergencies confidently and competently. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR certification is not limited to medical professionals—it’s a valuable skill for anyone. The AHA offers CPR courses for both healthcare providers and the general public. These courses teach participants how to recognize cardiac arrest, perform chest compressions, give rescue breaths, and use an AED. CPR certification is commonly required for teachers, coaches, lifeguards, and childcare providers. The skills learned can be applied to adult, child, and infant emergencies and empower individuals to act swiftly in life-threatening situations. First-Aid First-aid certification courses teach non-medical responders how to manage a wide range of emergencies until professional help arrives. Topics include bleeding control, burns, fractures, allergic reactions, seizures, and more. The course is ideal for workplaces, schools, and community groups. First-aid training helps individuals stay calm and act efficiently during crises, potentially preventing conditions from worsening. Many employers require First-aid certification to meet workplace safety standards. Training Format and Certification AHA courses are offered in various formats to accommodate different learning styles and schedules. Options include traditional classroom instruction, blended learning (a combination of online coursework and in-person skills testing), and the innovative RQI (Resuscitation Quality Improvement) program, which emphasizes mastery learning and regular hands-on practice. All certifications are typically valid for two years and require renewal through a refresher course or skills check. Conclusion Safety Training Seminars certification courses in BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPR, and First-aid provide comprehensive and standardized training that meets the needs of professionals and the public alike. These courses emphasize the importance of early recognition, high-quality intervention, and teamwork in emergency situations. By becoming certified, individuals gain the knowledge and confidence to save lives and make their communities safer. Whether you're renewing your credentials or learning for the first time, AHA training is a critical step in emergency preparedness.See more

"The online webinars were very informative and set up perfectly for the hands on training. The room was set up with dummies for test out and the virtual instructor was very professional and knowledgeable with multiple locations online. We enjoyed our session very much and feel prepared."

"10/10 will come again for renewal. It was a really nice place and cozy. Quick and easy, left within like 15 mins."

"Was great experience"

"I have been using their services for almost a decade and never had issues with their services,"

"I’m writing to say how very easy it was to prepare for the BLS course. From the time of registration, they made clear instructions on how things would run. I was able to review sections even on the examination day that I had questions about. I will recommend this training to anyone who needs it. The only negative was that they were low on supplies for gloves so I had to use a XL size. And if there had been two of us, it would have been really tight in the room."
"Really easy to find and the hands on components were straight forward"
"The blended course was great. Pricing was reasonable. Instructions were clear about how the process worked. The simulation worked out well."

"Easy and complete."

"Best class I have taken very thorough explanation! Would recommend"
"I’m late!!! Thank goodness y’all had an appointment within the week The material, virtual video and class experience was amazing Thank you"

"Great experience overall! Scheduling was very flexible, with plenty of available time slots to choose from. I also liked that I could study and complete the test at home beforehand. The instructions for getting to and entering the venue were very clear, which was helpful since I came by myself and no one was around when I arrived. The equipment worked well, and the computer-guided training clearly showed what I was doing right and what I needed to improve. Everything went smoothly, I finished earlier than expected, and I received my certificate right away. Very convenient and efficient!"
"The Customer Service Staff are very attentive and available. If the phone call drops for any reason they call you immediately back. They answer your after hours messages as well. The experience was well explained and all they listed was found as they said it would be."
"Very comfortable setting for the class, easy to understand and get through. Would definitely recommend to others."
"I was extremely disappointed with this CPR/First Aid training. Safety concerns, as well as both the quality and inconsistency of the instruction for the hands-on portion, made this a very frustrating experience. First, there are significant safety issues with the setup. I have taken this course before at the Los Gatos location and was alone at a location with a virtual instructor who was 1:1 with me while I demonstrated my skills. Imagine my surprise this time when, after I entered a small locked room, a man walked in behind me and the LOCKED door slammed shut behind him. The room is on the second floor of a quiet building. The hallway was dark, with no lights on, and felt isolated. You enter a code to access the room, and the room has no windows. I had NO advance notice that I would be placed in this small, LOCKED, windowless room with another person. This was a serious safety concern and placed me in an extremely uncomfortable position. What makes this particularly egregious is that Safety Seminars repeatedly leads with the fact that it is a women-owned business. It is concerning that a company that so prominently emphasizes being women-owned would put a woman in this situation without advance notice or consideration for her safety and comfort. What about women who have religious beliefs that don't allow them to be alone in a room with a man? Participants should at least be informed beforehand that they will be sharing a small, locked, windowless room with another person. The quality of the hands-on skills portion was also extremely disappointing. My 14 year old son was scheduled for his skills evaluation just after me. The monitoring setup did not allow for meaningful 1:1 observation, evaluation, or correction of skills. For my son's session, one person monitored through a phone camera while simultaneously monitoring multiple people at other locations. During my session, the instructor was monitoring through a Ring camera, also while monitoring multiple people elsewhere. This is not equivalent to an instructor closely watching one participant perform skills and providing individualized corrections. The training itself was also inconsistent. We are required to complete the online modules before the hands-on portion, yet I was made to watch the same modules again during my session. My son's CPR certification took approximately one hour and covered all required material, including the additional opioid portion, which felt rushed. My session lasted approximately 1.5 hours and still FAILED TO INCLUDE CHOKING—a major component of CPR/First Aid training. Overall, I left feeling that the experience was more about completing a certification requirement than ensuring participants were actually prepared to respond in an emergency. Given the safety concerns, lack of meaningful 1:1 skills assessment, and inconsistencies in the instruction, I would not use Safety Seminars again and cannot recommend them. I called Safety Seminars immediately that day, ask to speak with a manager who assured me someone would call me back. I have yet to hear from anyone. I am disappointed that my concerns were not addressed directly before I felt the need to share my experience publicly. I suspect they may respond to this review, but given that my direct concern was never followed up on, I would view a public response as more “for show” rather than a genuine effort to address valid objective concerns."

"Class was good although the zoom teaching and not in person make it less engaging and corrections can’t be made on the spot. It’s like having a personal trainer but virtual. More value would be in person."
"Very efficient process for certification. Great directions for everything (parking, entering the building, etc). Everything was clean and well maintained."

"Great experience"
"Excellent experience. Very easy to navigate and very helpful instruction."

"The instructor, Malia, was really helpful, patient, & kind. She was very thorough in making sure we felt confident in giving first aid treatment."
"Straight forward. Answers my calls 100% of the time. Never avoid to answer questions. Great company and well known/respected for a reason!"
