A co-operative (co-op) is a different kind of business. Our Co-op is owned by individual members and other co-ops, not big investors, and our members get a chance to have a say in how we’re run. Profits mean members receive money, rewards and offers and a co-op can support its local community.
"I visited my local co op in Barking Riverside two nights ago to buy wine. The time was 10.05pm, the shop opening hours are 7am-11pm. I was told by a worker that I can’t buy alcohol this late because the self check out doesn’t work after 10pm. I asked ok is this a new rule? He says well you can go and try it, but it won’t work, In a sarcastic manner. There were works going on, on the non-self checkout tills, which I appreciate. At no point did the worker say: I apologise there is renovation going on with the non checkout tills. As the self-checkout tills don’t work after 10pm, unfortunately you cannot buy alcohol at the moment. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This would have been the right way to speak to a customer. In an area where there are no amenities as it is, this is a poor example of treating a regular customer."
"Lokesh reddy mandad is best person who is very dedicated and have fashion about is job and he is super honest person I found at co-op Mays Lane barner"
"Advertising Guinness at £6.09 for 4 when ordering I actually paid £8.70 for the 4 cans through deliveroo, there's no way to check until you've been charged and get your receipt, this apparently is a regular occurrence with the coop."
"I recently ordered my first home shopping delivery from the co op. Got a message saying the courier would contact me with a link to track my delivery. That didn't happen. Was supposed to be 8 till 9 am. Got a message at 8.35 saying order completed!! Dont know where my shopping ended up but I never received it. No one answering the phone all day at the co op where I placed the order. Eventually made a call to the main co op customer services number and askedd for a refund as I hadn't received my shopping. No apology ftom the store or explanation what happened to my shopping. My first time abd definitely my last. Will NEVER shop with them again......... or recommend."

"Gives us expired food in good to go bag. All in all is 1.54 and I payed 2.39, food is all out of date."
"I'd like to give it no star to be honest what a load of shit this place is can't order stuff on there website for delivery because it just keeps buffering im not that keen on co op because of the staff are rude miserable but thought I'd give it ago"
"CO-OP stock the most disgusting cheap and nasty Cabico Apple Turnover. Just nasty and dry with about one third sugar and only 8% apple , horrible paste.... They also have a long shelf life...!!! What is in them!??? Worst I have ever tasted..."
"On 23 May, 2026, I ordered eight 2L bottles of sparkling water, four 2L bottles of still water, a coke and biscuits from Co-op in Carshalton. The 8 bottles of sparkling water were not delivered. I immediately notified Just Eat online and called the Co-op store. The worker at the Co-op was rude and unehelpful. He confirmed the case of water had been forgotten by the courier and said he would not send another driver because it was too heavy. He told me to claim a refund from Just Eat. Just Eat refused my claim for a refund insisting my order was delivered. This is unconscionable and unethical conduct. I will escalate this matter and warn other customers to beware of Co-op and Just Eat."

"Rosetta Road Branch, Belfast. Avoid this store’s delivery service — shop in person only. If you order delivery, you’re likely to receive out-of-date products, including items that are already spoiled or about to expire. I specifically ordered long-life milk and was delivered milk that was going off the very next day (and fully spoiled within four days). When I called the store to complain, they were completely unhelpful and didn’t want to know. They also fail to apply the discounts you’re entitled to and instead charge full price. Avoid them at all costs — you’ll be glad you did."
"The Co-op employees are very rude. The products were expiring in just one day. When I told the female worker with glasses, she completely ignored me and was just wandering around. Another company needs to open a supermarket in Ickenham."
"Popped in for lunch to the new Aborfield Store and got caught short due to new diabetes medication, when asked if I could borrow the toilet, I was denied. I explained that I was over 10 minutes from my offices & I wasn't going to make it back, she still said No, I asked for a manager and was informed he wasn't in until the afternoon. I might be wrong but shouldn't every shift have a duty manager? I ended up leaving my items & driving to a side road two mins away where there were plenty of bushes & having to go there. I will not be going back there EVER"
"Gone down hill as low as they can go. Unhelpful and un sympathetic staff especially regarding the loyalty card scam. They did nothing to help but become agressive when I had no membership card and tried to get the discount, no phone, no others customers available with cards and no help from the cashier. Then when I contacted their customer services to complain they had no previous records of my membership. Probably stolen in their data breach."
"I, (20 years old) went to my local Co-op the other day with my friend (19 years old). We just popped in because I was buying a bottle of alcohol for myself before we went over to Iceland. Went to the kiosk and as expected I was asked for ID. What was unexpected was she asked for my friend's ID too, which she didn't have on her because she wasn't paying, I was. I explained it was only for me and I was the one making payment but she still refused the sale. I used to work there and from what I remember we were never required to ask for both ID's, only the ID of who is paying. I found it a bit weird, just because she's with me doesn't mean it's for her. she wouldn't refuse a parent the sale of an alcohol just because their kid is with them so I don't really know if its a new policy but that's never happened to me before. Oh and I understand that in some cases employees reserve the right to ask both parties for ID if they have suspicion but a) we gave her no reason to be suspicious and b) she could have explained it politely and professionally but instead she was condescending and rude towards us both."
"Shocking state of delivery yard in Broadford Skye. I have shopped in this store for some years but this year I walked past rear yard and saw the most appalling state it was in .Overflowing bins yard floor covered in waste and a store personnel standing in amongst it smoking. I wont be shopping there again because if they cant make sure their yard is kept tidy and waste managed correctly then what happens in the store stock room ? The amount of mess will be rat and vermin ridden without a doubt. This is from a retail manager of many years experience."

"I bought 2 packets of chicken from co op cainscross Stroud. It is rotten before the date. Please do not buy meats from co op stores."

"I bought bacon rashers crisps. There is no flavour on the crisps. Waste of money"
"Spending money to advertise aldi. Prices matched with aldi. You couldnt make it up. Is aldi the benchmark for prices."

"Co op Croydon lower addiscombe is the worst branch ever. In the morning there is no staff In sight even when you scream hello several times. Their bakery is never available when shops open whereas other supermarkets have atleast half of their bakeries out. I know staff are probably under paid and given weird hours that why they’re always short staffed this needs to be better. If I could give 0 star I would. They need to do better"
"I went into your store at Ashley cross Poole Dorset. And bought a 30 gr golden Virgina for 26 .30i asked the is that the proper price she said yes twice went on to Deliveroo site to order it from the same shop at the price was 35.55 wow what a rip of that is a joke that’s Elgar so I shall be reporting it as profiteering yours mr Kevin Vye"
"Visited the Milton road Branch, Cambridge and was disgusted by the staff. I asked a member of staff where the bread was and her reaction was "I'm doing a stock check, cant you see I'm busy - ask someone else". I think her name was Stef - one of the managers or something as she started shouting at other staff soon after she talked to me. Really bad manners. Didn't help as she was munching her way through a banana whilst talking to me either."
