First Payment Merchant Services offers decent rates and helpful staff, but their post-sale service could use improvement. Some customers face delays with account closures and card machine replacements, causing frustration. While staff like Kelly are praised for their support, communication issues with the company are common. Overall, mixed experience for users.
Possibly one of the most confusing and bad companies to deal with post sale. Customer service is next to none and I have been trying to close my account for around 3 months as I have another provider. It is very confusing about who you actually deal with as there seem to be three companies involved (Clover, DNA Payments and First Payment Merchant Services). Clover seem good but no response from any form of communication to First Payments. Still not manged to speak to anyone as I am writing this so I can only assume the account is cancelled and hope for the best!!
Card machine broke. They only guessed what needed replacing. No true diagnostic. To take 3-4 working days for the supposed part to arrive over the christmas period i.e. 10 days without a card maching. Appauling customer service

check your contract rep did not tell truth about leaving i was told i could leave any time but after going through small print its 4 years don't do it

Samina Khan rang me on the 6th of Sept 2022. As she was one of approximately 10 individuals tendering for the deal, I asked her to give it her best shot as she had one chance and I wasn’t going to go back and forth. She explained the deal verbally, I asked her to confirm via email which she did almost instantly. As a result she has helped me sort out 2 x machines / terminals, she also advised me that the third one that I needed was better suited with a competitor as their proposal suited the volume of sales better for that particular company. She gave me honest and valued advice. The best thing about Samina is she is always available on the phone or by email. She assured me the machine would arrive before the deadline. Which was 16th the machine arrived on the 14th, it came all linked up and ready to go. Brilliant, many thanks Tom

Kelly Scanlon’s customer service skills are second to non… The company offered a good package at a great price and it was Kelly that handled everything from start to finish leaving me in no doubt whatsoever we had made the right choice, cant thank her enough.
The whole process, from being originally contacted after I had requested information on switching providers to today, being up and running and taking payments with our new machine has been excellent. Joanne Holford has been the person I have dealt with at each step and she has been superb! A slight hiccup when setting up the machine, through my own error, was very quickly dealt with by Joanne and she arranged an immediate call back to advise me. I have not felt pressured at any time throughout the process and have received excellent support and advice. I would highly recommend First Payment Merchant Services to any business and our business is saving a huge amount on our usual costs. Also, the provided machine is much faster than our previous one.

Not using the reader immediately, I only checked the contents of the two boxes & read the guide on Monday. I rang Tech Support but constantly engaged so emailed 10.15am Tuesday asking two questions - one being there was no till rolls in the boxes, is it preloaded? I did test purchase last night & screen displayed 'no paper'. Therefore no Settlement could be made as required daily. First planned use is Saturday. I called Joanne who apologised for no response yet from Tech (very busy yesterday) & confirmed that two rolls should've been included with delivery of the reader. She is now trying to arrange to get rolls to me tomorrow or Saturday morning and will confirm shortly. But for this, rating would've been higher and could still be if rolls delivered on time.
