"I went on Grammarly and got their free thing and used it for a couple weeks and decided to go to the pro so I put all my information in. I paid the $15. I actually have the receipt for it and they're telling me that I have no account. I've spun probably four hours in this today and the only thing I get is this AI thing that tells me the same thing over and over again and there's no way to talk to a human being and so this is a terrible company and I'm sorry that I ever gotten involved in it in the first place cause I've wasted a lot of time."

"I’ve used Grammarly for many years and highly recommend it, not only as a great writing app, but also for the wonderful people behind it. When I recently contacted support about a subscription mix-up on my end, I was WOWed (i.e. impressed ) by the kindness, understanding, and willingness to help shown by Aria.It meant a lot to feel heard and supported by a real human being who took the time to understand my situation and resolve it with care. Massive thank you, Aria and the Grammarly support team! Your thoughtful response exceeded my expectations, and I’m truly grateful!"

"I was charged $144.00 for an account I canceled last year. I went online immediately to cancel and was told I don't have an account. If I don't have an account, how can they charge me. I am told no refund will be issued. There is no customer service phone number. DO NOT GET A TRIAL. THEY WILL NEVER SHUT THE ACCOUNT OFF. I had to cancel my debit card to get them to stop charging me in the future."

"Not 3, 2.5 stars... you did not allow me that. This time, nah... always... it's just that this time I'm so annoyed I just had to write a review. The pop-up that prompts for a paid subscription is the most annoying part; it does not even allow you to place the cursor where you want to write or edit, like a nagging autocrat, always watching and ready to pounce. Agreed, passive voice is not the best to use too often, but seriously, Grammarly does not have any clue when the context dictates the use of passive voice. Writing ad copy with Grammarly on is a true disaster; it has literally no clue about different writing styles. It almost feels like whoever trained Grammarly never read literary English and remained an eighth-grader for life. It is only good for spelling errors, basic grammar errors, typing errors, and sometimes does help with improving the clarity of written text which is why I still have its Chrome extension."
"Installed Superhuman Go on my laptop without my knowledge and could no longer use Grammarly so uninstalled Gramarly and had to pay for this service"
"Another firm subscribes to the enshittification model. As a legit student I signed up to Grammarly Pro which was at the time $30 p/m for $60pq. good deal right? until you find out they offer business EXACTLY the same deal ANNUAL for $12pm. 12! capturing the poor student sector are we? I think alright, I'm registered with Unidays, I'll cancel and reset. They offer me the $72 per year deal to stay. so yesterday, my subscription would have renewed for $60 a quarter, today its $72 for the year. I'd say they've cornered the 'rip off' market. Also half of the functions won't let me edit my own settings as I need to be admin - I AM the admin the subscription is for one person. self-defeating settings. wonderful. AI is the future everyone. Oh and Grammarly wants to help me improve this feedback."

"If you want to try pro free as they offer, if you cancel you are off plan right away... tricky business move, they are also too expensive for what they offer if you wanna try 1 month only to start its 30euro..."
"There were some problems before; suggested options were not always implemented, especially in PPT, but today I entered, only to find out that it is no longer Grammarly, but Superhuman Go. Maybe it will get better over time, but what I appreciated most is that it didn't do the work for me; it made suggestions. Now it wants to change whole sentences when I want to change only one word. It has loads of fancy features I don't need, while the basic ones have got worse."

"i appreciate it has a trial even after subscribing the ai rewriter is poor though"
"Users beware! Grammarly is very dodgy! I signed up to trial the use of Grammarly for a fee period and cancelled the subscription as advised prior to the free trial end period. Nonetheless Grammarly have tried to deduct AUD $219 from my savings account for an annual subscription ( their most expensive subscription) for use a handful of times throughout the free trail period on a singular device. The payment did not go through as I cannot afford this charge and so Apple have prevented me from being able to update my Apps on my iPhone which has rendered my iPhone completely useless given I can't use my bank apps, my government apps etc. I reached out to Grammarly today to have this matter resolved and I was frustratingly just run around in circles before finally having a ticket lodged to speak to a human. Please DO NOT sign up to any “free” trials through Grammarly, it's a scam, I will be deleting everything once I have this matter sorted and will NEVER go near Grammarky again! Grammarly has left a very distasteful impression on me. I will also be reporting this matter to the Australian Consumer Watchdog because this is highly underhanded and unethical conduct!"
"I got charged for a whole year whilst only having used the free trial (144 euros!!). There has also never been a reminder to cancel. I have been scammed and don't even have a pro account."

"I used Grammarly a few years ago, before AI writing tools became so common, and at the time I found it genuinely useful. Recently, I came back to Grammarly to help edit larger amounts of work, but unfortunately my experience has been much more disappointing. I’ve found the quality of some of the corrections and suggestions to be quite subpar compared with what I expected, and the AI detector has also seemed very inaccurate and inconsistent in my experience. This is especially frustrating as a student, because I want editing support that is reliable and that I can actually trust when working on important academic assignments. What disappointed me most, however, was the subscription experience. I signed up for a free trial and did not receive a reminder shortly before it ended. Instead, I only became aware that the trial had finished once my card had already been charged. I cancelled as soon as I noticed the payment and contacted support immediately. While I understand that users are responsible for keeping track of subscriptions, I think sending a simple reminder before a free trial converts into a paid subscription would be a much more transparent and user-friendly approach. Not receiving one made the experience feel less focused on helping customers and more like a money grab through automatic payments. As a student, this is especially disappointing. Unexpected subscription charges can have a real financial impact, particularly for students who are not in a strong financial position. Because of this, I would not recommend Grammarly to students like myself who are looking for affordable, high-quality editing support and a service they can trust. For a company that promotes itself as helping users communicate more clearly and effectively, I think Grammarly could improve significantly in both the quality of its tools and the transparency of its subscription process. This experience has definitely lowered my trust and respect for the platform. BUT I did get a refund in the end, customer service was speeding and great but too avoid this whole process in the future for someone else, user service should be prioritised."
"ADHD USERS BEWARE! This program will drive you insane. constant flashing colors to tell you suggestions and although it may be trying to be helpful, you'll be unable to keep a train of thought in your head!!!!"
"This is my second review of the AI nightmare that is Grammarly. I have wasted days that I will never get back trying to get the Pro version working. Support is almost non existent and when I try to leave they offer you the moon to stay, without actually addressing the reason I am leaving. ProWritingAid isn't that great either but at least it works, and their support is a little better. When will companies realise that having AI bots for customer service issues is damaging their reputations. Any investors out there, I would advise that they put their money into companies who employ humans as I can see people flocking to such enlightened organisations!"

"I signed up for a week-long trial period of Grammarly. I was travelling and did not succeed in cancelling the subscription within the seven days, and the annual fee was charged as scheduled. I wrote yesterday to request a reversal. Within 30 seconds, I received a positive response, cancellation of the service and full reimbursement. I am genuinely impressed by the quick and effective way in which they responded to my refund request. No haggle, no questions, no delays. Unprecedented."

"Using Grammarly is highly beneficial to me on a daily basis. Mostly, I use this tool to help me with checking the grammar, spelling and to enhance my sentence structures. The ease of use of this tool and the time saved in making suggestions is one of the things that makes me very content."

"AVIOD AVIOD AVIOD SCAMMERS tried to cancel, told me not to worry yet stole £120 from my account."

"Grammarly is designed to protect a corporate brand more than it is to help you actually write. The AI refuses to even acknowledge text it deems "problematic," even if it shows in the box. It is painfully obvious it is designed for activism, not creativity. I will be refunding."

"they say my refund was sucsessfully refunded but they don’t send me the proof when I ask, very bad service and no transparancy"

"I tried to cancel my Grammarly subscription through the normal subscription page, but the cancellation process would not complete. After clicking “Continue to Cancel,” the interface simply stopped working. I then tried again using an incognito browser in case it was a browser or cookie issue. That did not resolve it. I also contacted Grammarly’s support chat, but it initially directed me back to the same cancellation process that was already malfunctioning. At that point, I had to submit a formal support ticket stating in writing that I wanted my subscription canceled and that I revoked authorization for future renewal charges. I have screen recordings and screenshots documenting my attempts. Cancelling a subscription should not require this much effort. Whether this is a technical problem or a poorly designed cancellation system, Grammarly needs to make cancellation as straightforward as signing up. I’ll update this review depending on how quickly they actually process the cancellation."
